Aluminium Mower Deck

What is a mower deck?

The deck of a lawn mower is the body of the mower surrounding the blades. They can be constructed of different types of materials - steel, plastic or cast aluminium. Using aluminium (cast aluminium) against other materials in building the mower deck has its own advantages. It is similar to steel, and is more durable and strong. Generally, cast aluminium is used in constructing more expensive mowers than the ones with steel decks.

Aluminium Vs. Other Materials -
Manufacturers use steel, aluminum polycarbonate or Xenoy resin for constructing the mower deck. Steel is less expensive but rusts easily, reducing the life of the lawn mower. Aluminum is a little heavier than other materials, but it does not rust. Decks of modern plastics are virtually indestructible.
