Bathroom Countertops
Bathroom Countertops make surplus workspace in the bathroom. Wood can be damaged by moisture and is not recommended. Synthetic material that is resistant to water, moisture and dampness are used for bathroom countertops. These are custom made and can be adjusted to the bathroom design in respect of color, pattern, size and shape. Thus, they usually take a back seat in decoration of the bathroom and are manufactured to provide a workspace near a major fixture like a shower, whirlpool, and vanity sink or bath tub.
Plastic laminates
Plastic laminates are water resistant and quite decorative for bathroom countertops and come in different finishes and looks ranging from low luster to high gloss. Plastic laminated bathroom vanity countertops are usually available with recessed sinks with self-rims and under-mounted bowls. However they may get damaged by excessive heat and can be affected by scratches from sharp objects and damages from ceramic or abrasive things dragged upon them. They can be cleaned easily by using a soft, non-abrasive cloth and a mild household cleaner. Scouring pads, abrasive powders, steel wool and sandpaper can scratch their surface. Dyes or other staining products can easily and permanently stain them. To avoid such stains, self-cleaning wax should be periodically applied. These are economical and may be long lasting, when used carefully but if water seeps in the seams and under sink edges can cause the laminate to separate by damaging the substrate. So, they are cumbersome to maintain.
Bathroom marble countertops
Bathroom marble countertops are functional, elegant and have an entire gamut of colors and styles. Cultured marble and cultured onyx are very popular for bathroom countertops. Its surface is hard, rugged, waterproof and stain-resistant. Repairing these is very easy and a little sanding and polishing can make it shine like a new one. The most frequent problem was the formation of hairline cracks, which has been solved by the cultured marble option. They are very easy to clean and polish and a protective coat of wax provides a perfect finish. Abrasive and scouring powders on these countertops can reduce its shine.
Corian bathroom countertops
Corian bathroom countertops are made of a mix of natural materials and pure acrylic polymer. It has a smooth surface and can have many colors. It is non-porous and is resistant to mold, mildew, bacteria, moisture and stains. Such countertops are easy to clean and maintain, hypoallergenic, nontoxic and chemically non-reactive. The different types of finishes are matte, semi-gloss and gloss. Keeping them on a trivet should use heat-generating appliances or hot pans or it can damage the surface.
