Freezer cooking does not have to mean two days of non-stop cooking until bone-tired and never want to see another recipe. Here are some options like
1. Mini-sessions – Take a few hours and triple a few recipes.
2. Protein type – Bunch a whole bunch of one type of meat and choose 3-4 recipes and have at it.
3. Set dates for planning, shopping and cooking
4. Choose recipes – Many people get stuck here because they do not know what will freeze and what will not. The easiest thing to do is to start with recipes from website or freezer cooking manual.
5. Make multiples – Remember, the time saving comes in making multiples of recipes. Whether it is a mini-session or a full day of cooking, make more than one of each recipe.
6. Convert the recipes to quantity cooking – To save time, one needs to get the recipes into a format where the ingredients are multiplied out from 1-6.

Next step:
Before going for shopping, clean the refrigerator and freezer. One will need as much room as possible for all of those groceries. Perishable ingredients should not be left at room temperature for more than two hours. Just remember, if chosen 8-10 recipes and make 3 of each, one may only be doing this once every 4-6 weeks and it will be worth it. This week of cook should be in few processes that includes planning, shopping, preparation of work, and assembly day. Pre assemble like
1. Skin chicken parts.
2. Cook and drain pasta.
3. Make coatings for chicken parts.
4. Start slow cooker meal.
5. Brown ground meats.
6. Dice or grind ham.
7. Make sauces.
8. Cook and dice poultry.

Last and final step:
One can plan on a 9-5 day to get 30 entrees assembled and into the freezer. If one pre-cooks everything for quick re-heats, the day will be longer. There are lots of options to stock the food. A lot of it depends on the freezer space and the cooking style. If the person is choosing freezer bags, do not skimp. Use freezer bags and double bag the meats in marinade. The trap with freezer bags is to freeze them in thin, flat layers. If choosing rigid containers, use good quality freezer containers. The serving dishes work fine as long as one slides them into a 2-gallon freezer bag. Try to remove as much air as doable.

An over view on freezer care:

In today’s fast paced life no one can deny the importance of fridge and freezers. It is among one of the most basic necessities of a modern home. However, of not properly taken care off a freezer may not function properly. Thus proper care and maintenance of the freezer is equally important as to have the freezer at home. Maintenance of freezer is not that complex or pain stalking. Through simple measures and regular checkups a freezer can be maintained properly. Foe example one take up the simple step of reading the instruction pamphlet before starting to use the freezer. This is the first initiative through which the user can be acquainted with the usage and maintenance of a freezer at home. Apart from that maintaining the freezer and defrosting it at regular intervals also helps a lot in keeping the freezer in a good condition.

Proper maintenance and care for the freezer:

Through proper care and maintenance one can not only ensure a healthy and safe usage of a freezer but also increase its longevity. Upon the right maintenance a freezer is sure to work more efficiently. The users are suggested to ensure the proper sealing of the freezer. A leakage in the sealing of the door of a freezer may cause a huge loss of energy as the cooling effect will escape from the freezer. Defrosting and cleaning the freezer is important since an ice build up inside the freezer lowers its performance and efficiency.

Some important tips for freezer maintenance:

Also it is important to maintain the temperature of the freezer constant as far as possible as it helps not only helps in avoiding food spoil but also enable the freezer to work more consuming less energy. The freezer also needs a proper positioning as it working efficiency depends a lot on this factor. For example, the freezer should be kept away from any source of heat like sun shine or any other. Heat source is liable to impact the cooling effect of any freezing. Also there should be reasonable amount of space at the back of the freezer to enable proper circulation of the air. Proper air circulation is important since the heat dissipated from the heating coils and the compressor needs a path to escape fast in order not to affect the cooling effect of a freezer. Proper care should also be ensured when the freezer is moved while shifting.

The water vapor condenses and turns to liquid water. Think of the water beading up on a glass of iced tea on a summer day. It is a case of water vapor in the air condensing. The same thing occurs on the ice-cold freezer coils, except that when the water condenses onto the coils it instantly freezes.

Parts and timers:
Frost-free freezer has three essential parts:
1. A timer.
2. A heating coil.
3. A temperature sensor.

Every six hours, the timer turns on the heating coil. The heating coil is wrapped between the freezer coils. The heater melts the ice off the coils. When all of the ice is vanished, the hotness sensor senses the warmth rising above 32 degrees F and turns off the heater. Heating the coils every six hours takes power and it also cycles the food in the freezer through temperature changes. Most big chest freezers therefore need manual defrosting instead, the food lasts longer and the freezer uses less power. In the kitchen of nearly every home there is a refrigerator. Without refrigeration, the food may be throwing out leftovers instead of saving them for another meal.

Use of refrigerator:

The refrigerator is one of those miracles of modern living that totally changes life. Prior to refrigeration, the only way to preserve meat was to salt it, and iced beverages in the summer were a real luxury. The basic idea behind a refrigerator is very easy. It uses the evaporation of a liquid to soak up heat. The basic reason for having a frost free refrigerator is to keep food cold. Cold temperatures help food stay clean longer. The basic idea behind refrigeration is to sluggish down the activity of bacteria so that it takes longer for the bacteria to spoil the food.

Packaged Tunnel Freezer

This is devised for small and medium capacity. A cascade belt is used which is a twin belt incline freezer. The material is stirred in a thin layer on the first belt. The material is crust-frozen to seal the moisture and effect product separation. Then it is transported to a second belt where the material is individually fluidized and frozen due to an upward airflow. The freezing quality is excellent and the shrinkage loss is minimum due to perpetual agitation of the material in the crusting and fluidization freezing stage. When compared to the nitrogen, carbon dioxide freezers the operation cost is low. This is because the enclosure is highly efficiently insulated and the balanced airflow and mechanical vibration is unique. The investment is very low for this freezer, without forgoing the quality. This freezer is usually used for small particle sizes varying from 3/16 to 2 inch diameter. The vegetable industry, fruits industry and sea food industry usually use this freezer.

Modular Tunnel Freezer

The Cascade pass belt is an inline freezer. The freezer is an inline, cascade, continuous and positive conveyed freezer. It has an accurate freezing time and a very good freezing quality. On the first belt, the materials are mechanically stirred. The skin of the product is crust frozen using frigid air. Due to this the material separation is assured and the moisture is sealed. Then the materials are transported to a second belt where it is collected to a deep depth. Here the materials are exposed to an upward balanced floatation air. Due to this the materials are fluidized and completely frozen.

Freezer burn is a form in which the outside of food appears light colored and dried out. It occurs when moisture on the outside evaporates. Proper cooling, air elimination, moisture vapor resistant packaging, a tight seal and a suitable span of storage help prevent freezer burn. Keep the freezer at 0 F or lower. Though a food with freezer burn is safe to eat but the quality is lower. One can cut away freezer burn spots either before or after cooking. If a food is seriously freezer-burned then it is desirable to discard it for quality reasons. When food is frozen as a method of protection a thousands and thousands of water molecules within the steak form ice crystals. These water molecules favor the warmest environment that is the coldest place in the freezer. The molecules travel from the steak to the coldest place they can find that is often the side of the freezer. The loss of these water molecules causes the steak to turn out to be dehydrated. The end outcome is freezer burn.

Freezer burn is a form in which the outside of food appears light colored and dried out. It occurs when moisture on the outside evaporates. Though a food with freezer burn is safe to eat but the quality is lower. One can cut away freezer burn spots either before or after cooking. When food is frozen as a method of protection a thousands and thousands of water molecules within the steak form ice crystals. The molecules travel from the steak to the coldest place they can find that is often the side of the freezer. The loss of these water molecules causes the steak to turn out to be dehydrated. The end outcome is freezer burn.

Reasons for freeze burn:

1. Most likely the reason can be that food was not tightly wrapped enabling water molecules to escape and seek a better location.
2. Freezer burn is likely to happen for items stored in the freezer too long. There is an edge to how long items should be stored in the freezer. Earlier or later the water molecules will find their way out of the frozen food to a colder place in the freezer.
3. The temperature of the freezer may have been above 0 degrees F. Freezer burn will set in as of fluctuating temperatures above 0 degrees F.
4. When water molecules break out from the frozen food, it is also possible for oxygen molecules to seep in. The oxygen molecules can dull the colour and modify the flavor of the frozen product.
5. Food that has freezer burn is safe to eat but one may find the texture and taste not to the liking.

Is freezer burn dangerous?

Freezer burn is not safe to eat. Freezer burn may emerge as grayish-brown leathery spots on frozen food. Although unwanted, freezer burn does not make the food unsafe and merely dry in spots. Cut it away either before or after cooking the food.

About freezers in short:

Freezers have become one of the commonest appliances in the modern homes. Due to the fast paced life in the 21st century the importance of storing food articles ready for consumption at home has become a trend. This has drastically increased the usage of the freezers or refrigerators. This in turn has affected the lifestyle of the common mass a lot and in many ways. One of the most important negative impact of a freezer that deserves a mention is the increase in the consumption of electricity. This has been a major issue in the developed countries of the world and research work is still going at full pace in order to deal with that problem.

Increased consumption of electricity:

Already mentioned, the first and the most important negative impact of a freezer is the dramatic increase in the consumption of the electricity. Studies have found out that Freezers consumption alone contributed to 20 % of the total energy consumption in the domestic sector. Even though not now the negative impacts of this increased energy consumption can show up in the near future. Scientists have worked out that at the present rate of electric consumption there is a probable chance of power shortage in the recent future.

Food Storage and their negative impacts:

The second most important and negative impact of the usage of freezer is the storage of food in them. Most of the time users who have freezers emphasize upon a bulk storage of food articles in the freezers. This may lead to numerous health problems and disorders. It is found that most of the different food articles that are stored in the freezers for a prolonged period of time loses its nutrients and many other food values. Thus food consumed from the freezers are less nutritive as compared to the fresh food items. Also many times there are chances of the food items getting thawed upon power failures. Such a case may be extremely dangerous as the food in the freezers become infested with bacteria and other harmful microbes which can be really harmful of consumed.

It offers a large capacity fridge compartment. The freezer should be precisely insulated from the warmer air rising from the fridge below. The Bottom Mount has the same size as the top mount but the freezer compartment is below the refrigerator compartment. The refrigerator is easy to reach as compared to the freezer which is less used.

There are six types of fridges. Their positive and negative aspects are discussed below.

The Bottom Mount has the same size as the top mount but the freezer compartment is below the refrigerator compartment. The refrigerator is easy to reach as compared to the freezer which is less used. As the warm fridge section is located above the cool freezer, it is more efficient. The Bottom Mount is more expensive than the top mount.

Side by Side and Compact Fridge

In Side by Side, the fridge and freezer are placed adjacent to each other. Each is accessible through two doors. Suppose there isn’t place to open a large door, the small doors of this type are an advantage. Big units have more capacity than the largest top and bottom mount refrigerators. As the sections are narrow, some varieties may not have enough space for bulky materials like pizza boxes. This type is more expensive than other units. The height is more as compared to other types. Compact or Bar Fridges are small and squat units. These are inexpensive and save space. They are ideal for a single person in a small apartment or for infrequent use in offices. This is not suitable for families. They do not have a full width freezer section.

Chest and Upright Freezer

The Chest Freezer can be accessed through a top lid. This is suitable for freezing foods for long span of time. This does not have a refrigerator function. Models which don’t have wire compartments are difficult to place food. The Upright Freezer looks like a standard fridge but the difference is that it has a large freezer compartment. This is a good choice for a family that wishes to buy in bulk and store food. The look of this type is better than the chest freezer. The style matches the fridge. This type does not have a refrigerator function. The kitchen space is not properly utilized as a side by side fridge.

Onboard refrigeration

The new Isotherm SP system for onboard refrigeration is a new, unique design and works on a different energy-saving principle than the other refrigeration systems. It was introduced in 1997. If it is desired to install both a refrigerator and freezer onboard, it is not possible to fit two or more units in the same skin fitting. Each unit become separate and is in need of its own heat exchanger skin fitting. However, both may be connected to the same sink. It is also practical to position more heat exchanger skin fitting below the waterline and connect it to an existing air vent placed above the waterline. If there is a working refrigerator aboard, it is not possible to rebuild it for SP. This is because an SP unit is divided into three parts. Each part is pre-filled with refrigerant and particular quick couplings which can be re-opened. From an economical and liability outlook it is inconvenient to rebuild this refrigerator.

On Shore refrigeration

When the boat is on shore for some work, the refrigerator can still be used. But, it will require more battery power. This will not be much of a problem as shore power can be used. The SP heat exchanger coil is cooled by means of air by utilizing the chimney effect. This effect is created due to the movement of warm air moving upwards in the sink hose. It is vital to remove the drain plug after use to enhance circulation of air.

Types

Isotherm SP is available in various varieties. There can be an Automatic Start Up in combination with a holding plate. Or there can be a traditional thermostat control and a direct evaporator. In northern European waters, the power consumption of a SP unit will be 10-20% lower than the corresponding air-cooled unit. In tropical conditions, the power consumption will be decreased by 30-50%. The raise in efficiency is due to the change in the sea and air temperatures of the waters. The temperature of sea water is in the range 77-86 degrees Fahrenheit and the temperature of air in the boat neat the compressor is in the range of 85 to 120 degrees Celsius.

Modular Walk-in freezer

A series of standard modular cold room chamber are available. Different length, width and height of these walk-in freezers are available. It can be used for storage of frozen food, fresh vegetable and fruit. The modular walk-in freezers can be easily disassembled and assembled by the buyer in their own premises and can be installed at different places. The coldroom panel of these freezers is made of high density polyurethane for a good insulation. The average density is 40 kg per cubic meters. A good sealing is obtained due to gaskets and cam lock tongues. For different ambient temperatures there are stable, strong and high quality condensing unit and fan coil unit. A Digital thermostat is used which provide good temperature control and display.

Regulations for Walk-in Freezer

Before moving inside the freezer, ascertain that the door latch opens comfortably from the inside. Also check if the door mechanism has not frozen shut. The cold temperature decreases the physical coordination and mental alertness. So, take a mental and physical rest period during work. Movement or retrieval of heavy boxes or ice cores must not be done single. A good stool or ladder must be used to dislodge material from upper shelves. The outside wooden door must be open to facilitate the cooling unit to operate efficiently. The metal freezer door should not be kept open, as the room cannot be kept cold. Drink or food should not be consumed inside walk-in freezers.

A freezer or refrigerator is a cooling device to cool the various components to a temperature below ambient atmosphere. It consists of a thermally insulated mechanism to transfer heat from comparatively warm environment to the external atmosphere. The main usage of freezers is to store and preserve various eatables. The more distinct definition of a freezer would be a device which maintains a temperature below the freezing point of water. Therefore, freezers keep their contents frozen at around -18 degrees C.

Principle of Working

The working principle is based on the use of heat pumps. A circulating refrigerant enters the compressor as a vapor at boiling point. The vapor is then compressed and it exits as superheated vapor. The superheated vapor then enters the condenser which cools the vapor. The saturated liquid refrigerant then passes through the expansion valve where its pressure decreases abruptly. The cold and partially vaporized refrigerant travels through the evaporator tubes. A fan circulates room air across the evaporator tubes because of which refrigerant is totally vaporized. This way the heat is extracted from the air and cooling is achieved.

Extra features

1) Automatic defrosting: In refrigerator water-vapor condenses on the cooling coils as frost and build up a thick ice layer. This ice acts reduces the cooling efficiency. For automatic defrosting, a heater and thermostat are fitted around cooling coils. The cooling is switched off and heater turned on till the temperature exceeds the freezing point of water around cooling coils. This melts any frost formation and normal cooling process is resumed.

2) A power failure warning: This alerts the user by flashing a temperature display. The maximum temperature reached during the power failure may also be displayed.

3) A status indicator: It is used to notify the user the probable time to change the water filter.

4) A cooling zone: This mechanism allows cold air to be diverted to the refrigeration section to cool milk, juice or other eatables in the door shelf.

5) Temperature controller: This knob controls the temperature of the refrigerator according to the type of food-item stored and according to the external atmosphere. It also regulates the amount of cold air circulating in the freezer compartment or the compartment where food items are stored.

6) LCD: This LCD may be used to suggest to the user what types of food-items should be stored at what temperatures. It also indicates the expiration date of the stored food-item.

About freezers:

Freezers are the single most important appliances. The device has become a commonest feature of every modern home. The concept of refrigeration dates back to pre historic times when man came to know that his game would last longer if he kept it in ice caves Since then he started harvesting ice from the snow falls during the winters and kept then in caves. Freezers evoluted from ice boxes that were widely used during the 18th century. Later on in the later half of the 18th century Freezers and refrigerators cam into practical domestic use as earlier ammonia system freezers were commercially used. Today alone in the United States almost every common household uses refrigerators and more than 60 % of the houses keeps a separate freezer. Studies have also figured out that more than 20 % of the total electricity consumed for domestic purposes are for refrigeration purposes. Thus freezers indeed have an impact on the modern lives.

Impacts of freezers at home:

The first impact that a freezer confers upon a house is the increased consumption of energy. It is found out that upon the installation of a freezer in a house the rate of electricity consumption increases by at least 10 – 15 % of the earlier amount. Hence, it is of utmost importance on the part of the user that they should emphasize upon the use of an energy efficient freezer. In this regard the energy rating given to a model can be considered as the ratings decides the efficiency of a model. Also unnecessary usage of a bigger freezer should be cut out. It should also be ensured that unnecessary storage of food articles should also be avoided. Thus a lot of energy can be saved as well as the extra costs can be cut out, that is spent on the food articles. The users are also suggested to read the manual of the freezer or the refrigerator they are using. This helps a lot in knowing that particular model. Regular care and maintenance of the freezer can also reduce the impact of increased energy consumption of the both the old and the new freezers.

The freezer failure indicator is used to determine whether a freezer which has not been attended, was off for a considerable span of time. It consists of a closed container containing two liquids which cannot mix with each other. The lower liquid is such that it freezes at normal operating temperatures of the freezer and the upper liquid is such that it remains in a liquid state at normal operating temperatures of the freezer. Both the liquids are of different colors. The wall of the closed container has an opaque zone and a transparent zone. The second liquid can be seen from the transparent zone. If freezer failure takes place, then the first liquid melts and replaces the second liquid.

Both the liquids are of different colors. The wall of the closed container has an opaque zone and a transparent zone. The second liquid can be seen from the transparent zone. If freezer failure takes place, then the first liquid melts and replaces the second liquid.

Freezer test after loss of power

In such a freezer test, jugs of water are placed as the freezer contents. The monitoring was done by using a digital multimeter. The aim of the test is to determine the temperature rise before the food softens and spoils. Also there has to be a comparison between a partially filled and completely filled freezer. The results show that ice maintains a relatively constant temperature near the freezing point. After loss of power, melting starts after 8 hours for a partially filled freezer and after 20 hours for a completely filled freezer. Thawing starts when the temperature reaches 32 degrees Fahrenheit. In the range of 32 degrees Fahrenheit and 40 degrees Fahrenheit, growth of spoilage bacteria occurs. The duration changes depending upon the number of times the door was opened, the temperature setting of the freezer, efficiency of the freezer insulation and ambient temperature outside the freezer.

Food safety in freezer failure

When the freezer is off due to loss of power, it must be remembered that the foods would remain safe if stored at proper temperatures. Bacteria increase fast at temperatures above 40 degrees Fahrenheit and cause illness. So, an appliance thermometer should be kept in the freezer to ascertain if the temperature is zero degrees Fahrenheit or lower in the freezer. After freezer failure, a full freezer can hold the food safe for two days and a half-full freezer for one day. If the power appears to be off for a long time then bags of ice or dry ice should be inserted in the freezer.

The storage capacity of a freezer, which is measured in cubic feet, provides an approximation of the space that is available for the foodstuffs. Usually, chest freezers have the maximum space. The Upright freezers have less than them and the small under-counter units have the minimum. If a fridge-freezer is bought, then it becomes essential to measure the separate fridge and freezer space. If the user is living in a flat or has less kitchen space, a large freezer is not desired. If there is a big family and there is a demand of a large amount of frozen food, then the user may be on the lookout for a large size chest freezer.

If the user is living in a flat or has less kitchen space, a large freezer is not desired. If there is a big family and there is a demand of a large amount of frozen food, then the user may be on the lookout for a large size chest freezer.

Freezer style

There are two types of freezers – the upright and the chest. In the former, it is the suitable size for many kitchens. The items are easy to take out. There are compartments and shelves to organize the food stuffs. In the latter, there is a big amount of storage space. The food stuffs at the bottom are hard to reach. It can be used to keep large food items like hams and turkeys. As the freezer has to be kept in a utility room or garage, it is less convenient. The energy efficiency of the freezer is rated A if it is excellent and G if it has a low efficiency.

Additional features

Freezers offer a large number of additional features. The Frost free freezers are useful because they prevent the formation of ice in trays. The Auto Fast Freeze has an automatic fast freezing feature. When the temperature in the freezer is warm, it is enabled. When the food is fully frozen, it is disabled. If the capacity of the freezer required is more than the icebox of a small fridge and sufficient space is desirable to store fresh food and drinks, the best viable option is to buy a fridge-freezer.

Domestic freezers are available in a wide range of sizes. The small size is called as the 4I Peltier fridge and can maintain six cans of beer. The large size may have the same height as a human being and the width may be one meter. The capacity is 600I. For small households there are small models that are eighty six centimeters in height. They can be placed below kitchen work surfaces. Freezers and fridges can be combined and stacked one above the other or placed on side of other. Those fridges that do not have a true freezer can contain a small compartment for preparing ice. Freezers can have drawers to place food. Those which do not have any divisions are called Chest Freezers. Freezers are free-standing or may be built in a kitchen. Compressor refrigerators are the most widely used and they make some noise while operation. Wherever noise is not desirable, Absorption or Peltier units are bought. Peltier coolers do not have a bulky mechanism and hence are used in small refrigerators. Compressor and Peltier refrigerators run compulsorily on electric power. Absorption units can be run on some heat source. Dual gas – electricity and sole gas units are the two types available.

Selection of freezers

Domestic or low cost industrial freezers can be classified into two types. Some have refrigerant coils in the chamber and are very cheap. The fan forced type in which air circulates in the chamber and refrigerant coils are on the back. The latter type is recommended for storage of food and other items. The moisture that condenses due to the cooling of air settles on exterior coils and drains into a tray on top of the motor and evaporates. In the fan forced or true frost free freezer, the ice evaporates with time as the refrigerant coils and fan pull moisture out of the freezer.

Refrigerators are split into four parts to accumulate various types of food. The minus eighteen degrees Celsius part is the Freezer. The zero degrees Celsius part is for meat. The volume of a combined fridge-freezer is divided into 3.53 cubic feet or 100 liters for the freezer and 4.94 cubic feet or 140 liters for the refrigerator. But these values may change.

Four Star Rating system

European freezers have a four star rating system to rank freezers. Same is true for refrigerators with a freezer compartment. A single star * means that the maximum temperature is minus six degrees Celsius. For frozen food, the maximum storage time is one week. A double star ** means that the maximum temperature is minus twelve degrees Celsius. For frozen food, the maximum storage time is one month. A triple star *** means that the maximum temperature is minus eighteen degrees Celsius. For frozen food, the maximum storage time is three months. A single star followed by three stars in bracket *(***) means that the maximum temperature is minus eighteen degrees Celsius. For frozen food, the maximum storage time is up to twelve months. The last two ratings have the same temperature. But, for freezing fresh food only the four star freezer must be used. For storing frozen food, three or less star freezers may be used. Keeping fresh food in these freezers may cause undue temperature rise.

Compartments in a Refrigerator

A refrigerator comprises of an upper refrigerating section and a lower freezer section. A switchable compartment between these two zones, having a temperature zone not higher than the maximum ice forming temperature zone and higher than the freezing temperature zone.

Keeping the freezer directly near a heat source, outside in warm climates or where the sun will shine on it may cause it to work harder than it needs to by increasing energy costs. Find a cool, level and dry space with sufficient clearance at the back for high-quality air circulation and room overhead or to the side to open the freezer door

Care and maintenance:
1. Verify the seal occasionally to make sure proper sealing. If the seal is not sufficient, the door may require an adjustment or the seal may need to be replaced.
2. Defrost and clean the freezer frequently.
3. Ice build-up will lower its efficiency.
4. Safeguard the small children by keeping freezers locked.
5. Vacuum any exposed condenser coils often to ensure proper air circulation.
6. Keep temperature steady to keep food from spoiling.
7. Label and date food inside for quick retrieval and ensure that foods are correctly rotated.

These tips are common in nature but consult the owner’s manual for definite care guidelines

Special tips:
When frost has build up on the inside walls to a thickness of half inch or so then remove the food from the freezer and turn off the thermostat or unplug the unit and allow all of the frost to melt. Once the frost has melted totally, turn the freezer back on, wait for it to reach its operating temperature and refill it with food. If the gasket or inside of the freezer needs cleaning, try cleaner. It is a useful product available in the accessories section of our website. If it becomes dirty or sticky then wash it with a damp rag and a slight dish detergent. For odors in the freezer, try deodorizer. The type of maintenance also depends on whether it is manual or self-defrosting. Self-defrosting freezers contain a set of coils and a cooling fan under the freezer that need to be cleaned at least once a year. The coils might look like a grate or like a wide radiator. Unplug the freezer and then use a brush. When mold breeds in the drain pain, it is sometimes considered to be a health concern. If the drain pan is removable, and if the person is sensitive to mold then it is better to clean the drain pan periodically.

The Info Update Screens display all the information that is required. The air circulation system causes proper chilling and protects the food surface. The products are made available on castors for easy cleaning and flexibility.

Modular Blast Chillers

The capacity of this blast chiller varies from 75 kg to 250 kg. To cater to different trolley sizes there are two door opening widths of 700 mm and 900 mm. This also has a menu driven dial to select the program. Different standard combi-oven trolleys are acceptable. The standard exterior is the robust white laminate of 304 grade stainless steel. When door is opened, operator friendly fans cut-out. For data management and retrieval, HACCP software is present in three formats. This machine can also blast chill from +70 degrees Celsius to +3 degrees Celsius in ninety minutes. The entry temperature is up to +90 degrees Celsius. Thus the food safety requirements are exceeded.

Advantages of Blast Chillers

Safety of food is the prime reason to buy this device. Operators experience that better food quality, decreased labor and food cost savings are the other advantages. Food cost is improved by strict portion control thereby reducing waste. The cooked product yield is more because greater moisture is retained. Rapid chilling avoids the deterioration that starts at the end of the cooking procedure. When compared to an ordinary freezer, the food products that are flash frozen have better quality as large ice crystals are not formed. These can damage tissues and alter food textures. In large batches, rapid cooling results in a long shelf life of the food product. As compared to small batch cooking labor is saved. The Food and Drug Administration Food Code has decided that food should be cooled from 140 degrees Fahrenheit to 41 degrees Fahrenheit in six hours.

As time passes, the water vapor in the air in a refrigerator condenses on the cooling coils as frost. In course of time, it becomes a thick layer of ice. This layer has an insulating effect and decreases cooling efficiency. Previously, this layer was removed by turning the refrigerator off and using hot water manually. However, in frost free refrigeration, a heater and thermostat are fitted near the cooling coils. For some time, the cooling is switched off and the heater is turned on till the temperature around the coils exceeds the freezing point of water. After this, usual cooling is started again. Any frost that has accumulated around the coils melts off. The melted water is collected in a gulley and then through a small pipe is passed to the top of the compressor. The residual heat generated by the power of the compressor evaporates the water.

The residual heat generated by the power of the compressor evaporates the water.

Ice

During power failure, a warning displaying the temperature is used to alert the user. Information is also given regarding the condition of the frozen food and whether it contains any harmful bacteria. A status indicator notifies the user the time to change the water filter. An in-door ice caddy is removable and prevents ice-maker clogging. It relocates the ice-maker storage to the freezer door and 60 liters of freezer space is saved. Air from the freezer compartment is passed to the refrigerator door to cool the juice or milk stored in the door shelf.

Freezer advancement

Previously, freezer units were surrounded by ice crystals. This was a result of opening of doors of the freezer. Humidity is passed into the freezer compartment during the opening of the doors. Due to this growth of frost, it became necessary to have periodic melting of these units to avoid the decrease of efficiency. In the 1950s, there were certain advancements in frost free refrigeration technology. These avoided the need of thawing the units. Moreover, previously, the freezer compartments were placed inside the large refrigerators. These had to be accessed by initially opening the refrigerator door and then the freezer door. In the 1960s, devices consisting of entirely separate freezer compartment were manufactured. By 1965, this became the industry standard. Further, automatic ice units and self compartmentalized freezing units were devised.
