A digital piano is an electronic device which is used as a musical instrument. The sound produced is same as the traditional pianos. These are played in the same way as the modern and traditional pianos. Acoustic pianos are also similar to the digital pianos. They are very handy and small in size. They are not so bulky like the modern pianos and they have gained a lot of popularity over the years. It was first introduced in 1980 and after that most of the people started manufacturing such devices. It became popular in a short period for all its characteristics. Thus the features of the digital pianos have overridden its characteristics.

With the introduction of the digital pianos the popularity came abreast. It is the inclusive of the grand piano, upright piano, tack piano and electric pianos which were made before the digital pianos. The digital pianos are quite inexpensive. It is smaller in size and is handy. Mechanically they do not require tuning. They have a transposition feature and they include a headphone output. They do not require the microphones and eliminates the problem of audio feedback. They are incorporated with the musical instrument digital interface (MIDI). The sounds produced are polyphonic sounds and a natural reverberation lacks in this instrument. The digital pianos include amplifiers and loudspeakers. Digital piano has a keyboard control and consists of default sounds. These electronic devices have a higher grip over the acoustic devices. A lot of companies are involved in making such devices. In 1980 they got connected with via MIDI and switched over to the functions like software synthesis. And in 2000 CEMI (computer generated musical instruments) was generated. Well ePiano can be given an example of the CEMI. A lot of expensive and high quality samples are stored in piano.
