Freezer size and capacity
Freezers and fridge-freezers may fit under a work surface, like a dishwasher or be positioned separately in the kitchen. They may alternatively be placed in a different room like a chest freezer. The amount of frozen food that is required to be stored will decide the type that the user requires. The storage capacity of a freezer, which is measured in cubic feet, provides an approximation of the space that is available for the foodstuffs. Usually, chest freezers have the maximum space. The Upright freezers have less than them and the small under-counter units have the minimum. If a fridge-freezer is bought, then it becomes essential to measure the separate fridge and freezer space. If the user is living in a flat or has less kitchen space, a large freezer is not desired. If there is a big family and there is a demand of a large amount of frozen food, then the user may be on the lookout for a large size chest freezer.
Freezer style
There are two types of freezers – the upright and the chest. In the former, it is the suitable size for many kitchens. The items are easy to take out. There are compartments and shelves to organize the food stuffs. In the latter, there is a big amount of storage space. The food stuffs at the bottom are hard to reach. It can be used to keep large food items like hams and turkeys. As the freezer has to be kept in a utility room or garage, it is less convenient. The energy efficiency of the freezer is rated A if it is excellent and G if it has a low efficiency.
Additional features
Freezers offer a large number of additional features. The Frost free freezers are useful because they prevent the formation of ice in trays. The Auto Fast Freeze has an automatic fast freezing feature. When the temperature in the freezer is warm, it is enabled. When the food is fully frozen, it is disabled. If the capacity of the freezer required is more than the icebox of a small fridge and sufficient space is desirable to store fresh food and drinks, the best viable option is to buy a fridge-freezer.
