Impact of freezer at home
About freezers:
Freezers are the single most important appliances. The device has become a commonest feature of every modern home. The concept of refrigeration dates back to pre historic times when man came to know that his game would last longer if he kept it in ice caves Since then he started harvesting ice from the snow falls during the winters and kept then in caves. Freezers evoluted from ice boxes that were widely used during the 18th century. Later on in the later half of the 18th century Freezers and refrigerators cam into practical domestic use as earlier ammonia system freezers were commercially used. Today alone in the United States almost every common household uses refrigerators and more than 60 % of the houses keeps a separate freezer. Studies have also figured out that more than 20 % of the total electricity consumed for domestic purposes are for refrigeration purposes. Thus freezers indeed have an impact on the modern lives.
Impacts of freezers at home:
The first impact that a freezer confers upon a house is the increased consumption of energy. It is found out that upon the installation of a freezer in a house the rate of electricity consumption increases by at least 10 – 15 % of the earlier amount. Hence, it is of utmost importance on the part of the user that they should emphasize upon the use of an energy efficient freezer. In this regard the energy rating given to a model can be considered as the ratings decides the efficiency of a model. Also unnecessary usage of a bigger freezer should be cut out. It should also be ensured that unnecessary storage of food articles should also be avoided. Thus a lot of energy can be saved as well as the extra costs can be cut out, that is spent on the food articles. The users are also suggested to read the manual of the freezer or the refrigerator they are using. This helps a lot in knowing that particular model. Regular care and maintenance of the freezer can also reduce the impact of increased energy consumption of the both the old and the new freezers.
