Maintenance tips for the freezer
Keeping the freezer directly near a heat source, outside in warm climates or where the sun will shine on it may cause it to work harder than it needs to by increasing energy costs. Find a cool, level and dry space with sufficient clearance at the back for high-quality air circulation and room overhead or to the side to open the freezer door
Care and maintenance:
1. Verify the seal occasionally to make sure proper sealing. If the seal is not sufficient, the door may require an adjustment or the seal may need to be replaced.
2. Defrost and clean the freezer frequently.
3. Ice build-up will lower its efficiency.
4. Safeguard the small children by keeping freezers locked.
5. Vacuum any exposed condenser coils often to ensure proper air circulation.
6. Keep temperature steady to keep food from spoiling.
7. Label and date food inside for quick retrieval and ensure that foods are correctly rotated.
These tips are common in nature but consult the owner's manual for definite care guidelines
Special tips:
When frost has build up on the inside walls to a thickness of half inch or so then remove the food from the freezer and turn off the thermostat or unplug the unit and allow all of the frost to melt. Once the frost has melted totally, turn the freezer back on, wait for it to reach its operating temperature and refill it with food. If the gasket or inside of the freezer needs cleaning, try cleaner. It is a useful product available in the accessories section of our website. If it becomes dirty or sticky then wash it with a damp rag and a slight dish detergent. For odors in the freezer, try deodorizer. The type of maintenance also depends on whether it is manual or self-defrosting. Self-defrosting freezers contain a set of coils and a cooling fan under the freezer that need to be cleaned at least once a year. The coils might look like a grate or like a wide radiator. Unplug the freezer and then use a brush. When mold breeds in the drain pain, it is sometimes considered to be a health concern. If the drain pan is removable, and if the person is sensitive to mold then it is better to clean the drain pan periodically.
