Power drills
Power drill is a multipurpose drill that can be used to drill holes, install screws, and even polish objects. This tool is definitely one of the must haves of every aspiring handyman.
Power drill:
There are many different variations in power drills. Some are cordless while others are not. However the basic function and operation of any power drill is the same. Power drills have reversible actions, powerful grip and a keyless chunk. They are therefore apt for creating holes of larger diameters. Power drills also have the facility of variable speed enabling you to adjust the speed according to your work. Some drills also have hammer action, which is especially useful while drilling through concrete and bricks. Power drills come in basic two sizes. The standard sizes are usually 3/8 inch and inch. Both these sizes have their own advantages and disadvantages and therefore while selecting any one particular size, the requirement of your job should be carefully considered. Another important consideration while buying power drills is, whether to go in for a cordless variety or corded variety. Though cordless varieties are more appealing due to their portability, they should be used with caution, as they can be unsuitable for drilling certain materials like non-wood materials. While choosing any cordless variety of power drill, certain things like the longevity of the batteries, the system of recharging etc should be carefully checked and verified. For selecting corded drills, the drills that offer the facility of variable speed and reversible control should be selected.
Safety measures:
Power drill can lead to many accidents if not used properly. The operator should have considerable skill while handling the drill. Other important safety measures include wearing appropriate clothes and avoiding any form of jewelry that may get caught while working, is very necessary. Wearing safety glasses during drilling operations is also another safety measure. The power drill should be unplugged as soon as the work is done no matter how short the break is going to be. The cord and the drill need to be regularly checked for damages and maintained appropriately. Apart from this, proper handling of the tool during the operations is highly recommended.
With proper care of the drill and your own caution, safety of you and your workers is definitely assured.
