Tiki totems
All Tiki totem poles are made from natural Sabal palm trees (Cabbage Palms). These are found in abundance in Florida. The trunks are generally 8" – 10" in diameter. Tiki idols represent various gods, many a times in the same deity in different aspects. Tikis typically have big, wide, open mouths to scare away evil spirits. The big guy you see above, Ku was a warrior god and in this aspect is a protector. In other aspects, he could be even more ferocious. Ku here was made by the Tiki master in Hawaii and is a great piece of art which now hangs over my bed warding off bad dreams and more sinister evils.
Carving a Tiki
The nature of the wood and the artistic nature of the work insure that each Tiki Totem is unique in its own way. One can feel the differences in the color and consistency of each Tiki since God made sure each Sabal Palm is different from the next. The artist that does your Tiki will add his or her personal touch as the work is done. This insures you will receive a Tiki Totem that is uniquely yours and likely will be slightly different from the pictures shown on the website. The special uniqueness of our Tiki Totems prevents us from guaranteeing an exact likeness in color, diameter, or figure as shown on the website. We will work hard to provide the specific style you choose as long as you understand and accept that your Tiki will look unique in its own way.
An amazing fact to be considered
It is truly an amazing fact that the dead-ringer for bamboo and thatch was actually durable PVC that weathers beautifully through the seasons and the merriment of party guests. Beneath the seven-and-a-half-foot-tall faux thatched roof, guests will enjoy the Polynesian spirit while perching atop one of the four 30"-tall stools placed along the expansive bar. Amidst details like woven corners and faux bamboo columns, one can conveniently pull stemware down from the glass rack or grab bottles from the storage shelf below.
