Use power saving lighting equipments - Save watts save money
Managing household expenditure has always been a tedious job for most of us. The over rising utility bills and the rising living cost is haunting everyone these days. Of all, a significant share of the income is spent on utility bills. In fact these payments are rising day by day as their cost is rising. Well there is no point waiting for the rates of electricity to reduce it is next to impossible. But the payments can be still reduced by using power saving lighting equipments. After extensive research and experimentation various lighting equipments have been developed that not only consume less power but also offer more brightness.

With the development in luminous technology new types of bulbs and tubes have been developed. The High-pressure sodium lamps are the best of all. They provide with an unbelievable luminous efficiency of 89 Lm/w. Fluorescent lamps have also become popular these days. These lamps are famous for provide brighter and softer light and offer a luminous efficiency of 60 Lm/w. Metal halide lamps can also be used for residential lighting. These lamps can also be considered as energy saving lighting as they offer with luminous efficiency of 57 Lm/w. Try to use less of mercury lamps as they provide with a luminous efficiency of 53 Lm/w. Avoid using incandescent lights as much as possible they consume the most electricity while providing the least luminescence. The luminous efficiency of incandescent lamps is just 15 Lm/w.
Tips to get better luminescence at low energy consumption
For better lighting make sure that you clean the lamps regularly. Dirt on the bulbs obstructs the lights forcing you to switch on another lamp. Mix local lighting with general lighting. Install an independent switch to each lamp. So only required numbers of lamps are switched on, if one is needed only one lamp is burning not two. For better lighting increase the light reflecting effect. Well nothing will save more than use of natural light. And if still you are using old light tubes it is high time you replace them with the new technology tubes.
